Job Description:

The Department of Family Therapy and Social Work in the School of Education and Human Development invites applications for a full-time, tenure track, Assistant Professor position in the CSWE accredited Masters of Social Work, Clinical Specialist program beginning Fall 2023.

The successful candidate will demonstrate teaching experience preferably at the Master’s level, a scholarly agenda and promise of productivity, and a willingness to engage in service. The teaching load is 3 courses in both the Fall and Spring semesters. Candidates should demonstrate commitment to innovation and excellence in teaching and the use of technology in the classroom.

Candidates must demonstrate experience and a commitment to the profession and practice of clinical social work. The candidate should demonstrate experience in engagement with under-served populations and a commitment to the mission of advancing human rights and social justice in teaching, service, scholarship and clinical social work practice.

The MSW program has a strong commitment to preparing clinical social workers who are devoted to equity, diversity, inclusion, and racial justice. We successfully prepare social workers with a strong focus on social justice, grounded in our Jesuit mission and values. Our graduates are prepared to address inequities in mental health care and make a substantive difference as systemic change agents for clients in agencies including children and youth. The MSW program at Fairfield University prepares graduates to recognize and value the inherent worth and dignity of all people and promotes the wellbeing of individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities. The program seeks to prepare graduates who possess strong knowledge, skills and values, and uphold the highest standards of professional social work practice. The program educates students in collaboration with community partners and advances the social work profession through the scholarly contributions of faculty and students.

The successful candidate will:

• Hold a doctoral degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited program or have received their degree prior to commencement of the position.
• Demonstrate research, scholarship and practice experience with people of color and other underserved groups
• Be eligible for licensure as an LCSW in the state of Connecticut.
• Demonstrated capacity to teach across the Social Work curriculum and populations including children, adolescents and families, social policy, and clinical practice and supervision.
• Demonstrated use of theories that inform the applicant’s research and teaching, such as but not limited to, theories of anti-racism, intersectional theories, theories of oppression, or critical race theory.
• Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and social justice in practice, teaching, and/or research.
• Have experience implementing initiatives to increase equity, diversity, and inclusion at the program/departmental/community levels.
• Be active in professional organizations and university service.
• Bilingual fluency valued.
