Position Overview
Marquette University invites applications for a full-time finance instructor beginning in Fall 2023 at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice or Instructor of Practice, depending on qualifications. The responsibilities of the new hire will be to teach undergraduate and graduate (master’s) level courses in general finance, investments, banking, or corporate finance. The College of Business Administration offers undergraduate and graduate degrees. Compensation is competitive.
Duties and Responsibilities
The standard teaching load for a full-time instructor or professor of practice is 4/4. This is a 9-month position, but there will be opportunities for summer teaching for overload compensation. The new faculty will be required to teach in both face-to-face and online modalities at the undergraduate and master’s level. The weighting of importance of teaching and service is 70% and 30%, respectively. Service will include participation to college and university committees, participation to department and college events, and student support activities (e.g., learning assessment, internship and career liaison activities, prospective student visits).
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
At a minimum, candidates should hold a Master’s Degree in Business or Finance. Candidates should show evidence of excellence in teaching.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
A Ph.D. or DBA from an AACSB-accredited college of business program is preferred but not required. ABDs in advanced dissertation stages will be considered.
