Position Overview

We seek a non-tenure track instructor to teach full time for both fall 2023 and spring 2024. In fall the assignment includes teaching BIOL 1001 – General Biology 1 (3 credits, ~150 students), and BIOL 4701 – Human Physiology (4 credits, ~120 students). In spring the assignment includes teaching BIOL 1002 – General Biology 2 (3 credits, ~150 students), and BIOL 4602 – Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy and Development (3 credit laboratory class, 2 sections, each with ~14 students). BIOL 3201 – Genetics (3 credits, ~75 students) may be an alternate to the laboratory class.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the following in fall:

  • BIOL1001 – General Biology 2, with lectures MWF 2:00-2:50AM as well as supervise 2 teaching assistants who will deliver four discussion sections.
  • BIOL 4701 – Human Physiology, TWThF, 10:00-11:50AM as well as supervise one teaching assistant who will deliver four discussion sections..
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the following in spring:
  • BIOL1002 – General Biology 2, with lectures MWF, time TBD as well as supervise 2 teaching assistants who will deliver four discussion sections.
  • BIOL 4602 – Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy and Development, with one hour lecture/week and two 3-hour lab sections, time TBD.

This individual is the faculty-level instructor in charge of the courses and is responsible for all aspects of the course, including lectures, online postings, student activities/assignments, maintaining office hours, exams, and grading.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Earned doctorate or a terminal degree. Five years of teaching experience or other suitable professional experience.

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Earned doctoral or a terminal degree and prior teaching experience in biology preferred.
