The College of Business at Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking a self-motivated, highly organized, and outcomes-driven Recruitment and Retention Specialist to represent the College of Business in our community. Reporting to the Advising Coordinator, the Recruitment and Retention Specialist is responsible for increasing enrollment at the College of Business through recruitment and retention efforts that lead to student completion. By implementing the college's recruitment and retention strategies, the primary duties and responsibilities of this position include: developing and leading outreach activities on campus and at area community colleges, high schools, and in local communities that increase awareness of the College of Business and generate applications that meet recruitment targets, and; working with college advisors, faculty, administration, and university staff on initiatives and projects that promote student retention and completion. This role requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact comfortably with a broad range of stakeholders. This role requires reliable transportation around the Denver Metro area, including to locations that may not be well-served by transit.
The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups.

Required Qualifications
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Due to the nature of the work, this position requires flexibility for on campus, in person, and on-site visits at high schools, community colleges, and other recruiting event venues. Remote work may be available but no more than one or two days a week. Some evening or weekend work may be required. This role requires reliable transportation around the Denver Metro area, including to locations that may not be well-served by transit.

Salary for Announcement
The hiring range for this position is $48,000 - $54,000. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, training, and qualifications.

Duties/Responsibilities
Student Recruitment Efforts 60%)
- Build relationships with faculty, advisors, and other personnel
at high schools and community colleges that lead to clear pathways
from high school to the community colleges, to the College of
Business.
- Represent the College of Business at events on and off campus,
such as: campus fairs, community college and high school events,
and interscholastic competitions (e.g., FBLA, DECA)
- Develop and host events on and off campus for potential
students and their parents, high school and community college
faculty and advisors, and other individuals and groups as
appropriate to promote and engage the community
- Lead initiatives using University resources to develop,
maintain, and improve informational and promotional materials,
including print fliers, letters, web content, and the college’s
social media platforms.
- Identify strategies that will expand on current recruitment,
outreach, and promotion initiatives
- Manage all aspects of registration events, welcome week events,
early alert campaigns, and other student-success efforts that
increase retention.
- Organize college events that promote and support opportunities
for student enrichment and engagement, and career readiness
preparation.
- Represent the College of Business at University-wide efforts
that foster student success and promote student engagement.
- Engage student organizations and alumni with retention and
completion events.
- Accurately communicate university and College of Business
degree requirements, transfer processes and agreements.
- Utilize advising-based systems and communicate with faculty
(especially for introductory courses) to identify students who are
at-risk of not returning to the university or who are not reaching
program-specific milestones.
- Represent the College of Business at University-wide efforts to
foster student success and registration events.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Sales,
Entrepreneurship, Education, or similar
- Experience working with college students or youth in an
event-planning and/or outreach capacity
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to
detail
- Reliable transportation around the Denver Metro area, including
to locations that may not be well-served by transit
- Demonstrated results from providing exceptional customer
service experience, with a focus on the ability to interact
comfortably with a broad range of stakeholders
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs, specifically
Excel and Word
- Master’s degree in Higher Education, Education, Marketing,
Sales, Entrepreneurship, or similar
- Knowledge of Colorado and Denver Metro secondary and
post-secondary environment; or Career and Technical Education
pathways
- Experience using computer-based student information system(s)
(e.g. Ellucian Banner, PeopleSoft, CampusVue, Student Success
Collaborative, etc.)
- Experience with digital media, including social media, in a
professional context
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience working with and/or being sensitive to the
educational needs of a diverse urban population
- Desire and commitment to working within and supporting a
welcoming and cohesive team dynamic
