A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking applications for Regional Director of Medical Education (RDME) on the Mesa, Arizona campus. The RDME will facilitate course sessions, deliver course curriculum, and all other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Clinical Education.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate course sessions with OMS II students assigned to their cohort.
  • Deliver OMS II Medical Skills course curriculum as per the syllabus and under the auspices of the Course Director.
  • Monitor and track the OMS II Clinical Experience as required for the OMS II Medical Skills course.
  • Identify Faculty Preceptors for the OMS II Clinical Experience.
  • Ensure the Faculty Preceptors for the OMS II Clinical Experience are properly credentialed by ATSU-SOMA.
  • Facilitate Grand Rounds for OMS II – IV Students. Ensure attendance is tracked and submitted to ATSU-SOMA.
  • Facilitate OMS II Epidemiology / Biostatistics course learning sessions and assist students in developing and implementing the Community Oriented Primary Care Project under the auspices of the Course Director.
  • Help coordinate the scheduling of clinical requirements for each year (identifying, securing, and scheduling the following clinical rotations):
    • OMS II: Medical Skills Clinical Experience hours
    • OMS III: Core Rotations (FM, IM, Surgery, OBGyn, Pediatrics & Psychiatry)
    • OMS IV: Clinical Requirements (EM, ICU)
  • Assist the Clinical Education Department (CED) team in obtaining necessary documents for preceptor credentialing and site Affiliation Agreements.
  • Train Clinical Preceptors in the process of completing and submitting Clinical Rotation Evaluations (CRE).
  • Provide Clinical Preceptors with ATSU-SOMA Core and Required Clinical Rotation information, including Syllabi and Experiential Learning Objectives (ELOs).
  • Annually review the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) application platform and the training provided on VSLO by the Student Achievement Team (SAT).
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of Student Evaluations of Rotation (SERs).
  • Monitor SER & CRE reports and notify the Assistant Dean of Clinical Education of any concerns with clinical rotations and notify the Student Achievement Team of any student performance concerns.
  • Enforce all ATSU University and ATSU-SOMA policies consistently with all students.
  • Ensure that all exam proctoring is carried out in accordance with ATSU-SOMA Examination Administration Guidelines.
  • Annually attend ATSU-SOMA Professional Development week each May.
  • Attend required Faculty & Staff Training sessions throughout the year and additional training sessions as recommended by the Dean, Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, or Assistant Dean of Clinical Education.
  • Complete ATSU RAVE Alert system training and utilize the RAVE alert system as indicated. Perform a test of the RAVE system annually.
  • Monitor for FERPA violations and report violations to ATSU-SOMA Leadership as needed.
  • Participate in ATSU-SOMA Committees as assigned by the ATSU-SOMA Dean.
  • Attend all required meetings, including RDME/REC meetings, Faculty Staff Meetings, Quarterly RDME meetings, and any additional meetings per the Dean, Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, or the Assistant Dean of Clinical Education.
  • Attend or view all required training, including Faculty & Staff Weekly Training Sessions, Student Achievement Team Success Sessions, and Professional Development week.
  • Complete all ATSU University requirements, including annual Required Employee Training (RET), annual employee evaluation process, HR orientation, HR training, and Orientation by the RDME Clinical Liaison.
Skills/Experience:
  • DO or MD degree with specialty board certification at some point in the career
  • Active medical license in the State of Arizona (or ability to attain this license within 12 weeks of hire)
  • Must have the following experiences:
    • Clinical practice
    • Small group facilitation
    • Teaching medical students in a classroom or at the bedside
  • Willingness to learn and utilize distance learning technologies.
  • Must have computer skills, including a working knowledge of Google applications, Microsoft Office suite, Zoom
