Assistant Director of Housing Facilities

Oregon Tech Housing and Residence Life is seeking a vibrant, dedicated professional to join the Housing and Residence Life team. The Assistant Director, Housing Facilities serves as a key member of the Housing and Residence Life department, with oversight of Housing Facilites. in support of the mission, vision and goals of Housing and Residence Life as well as Oregon Tech. The Assistant Director, Housing Facilities is responsible for the maintenance and custodial operations in all housing facilities, currently housing 700+ students. Specific responsibilities include supervision of the custodial/maintenance staff, planning for summer projects, and working on any deferred maintenance needs in the current facilities. This work includes but is not limited to managing preventive maintenance programs, coordinating building system repairs/service, ensuring compliance with safety codes and practices, and overseeing the Housing maintenance and custodial teams, including full time and student employees. The AD, Housing Facilities may also assist in current/future housing facilities proposed on campus. This position works Monday-Friday as well as some evenings and weekends. The AD, Facilities serves in the on-call rotation to respond to Housing related emergency/crisis needs after hours and on weekends as needed. This position also works closely with campus partners and vendors to ensure the safety and security of all residential facilities and occupants.

The Residence Life program is designed to augment the formal experience of the classroom and laboratory, while providing opportunities for residents to meet others from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and to develop a sense of community within the Residence Halls.

Qualification Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in building maintenance with progressive responsibility
  • Two to three years of supervisory experience required
  • Experience with building maintenance including basic plumbing, carpentry, basic equipment maintenance and repair
  • Knowledgeable about heating and cooling systems, grounds and other building related systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree, bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience supervising full time staff as well as student or part time employees
  • Knowledge or understanding of commercial cleaning practices in residential facilities
  • Knowledge of key systems and other security systems
  • Plumbing/electrical or contractor’s license
  • Knowledge of chemicals used in daily sanitizing and cleaning of restrooms, showers, carpeted flooring and tile flooring
  • Cleaning, Knowledge of best practices in daily, weekly, quarterly and annual cleaning and preventative maintenance practices
