Senior Director of Development, Yale Cancer Center

Yale School of Medicine (YSM) seeks a dynamic, distinguished executive to serve as its next Senior Director of Development, Yale Cancer Center (Senior Director).
Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Affairs at YSM and working closely with the Yale Cancer Center leadership teams, the Senior Director will shape and lead the fundraising initiatives to provide resources for this expanding program, engaging grateful patients, friends and alumni. The Senior Director will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors for financial support of research, teaching and clinical programs on behalf of the Yale Cancer Center. The Senior Director will work closely with the leadership teams from YSM and the Yale Cancer Center. This is a unique opportunity to manage a portfolio of donors, and to recruit and manage a team of development professionals in support of the work of Yale Cancer Center.

Yale School of Medicine is one of the world's leading centers for biomedical research, advanced clinical care and medical education. It ranks eighth among medical schools receiving funds from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), sixth in NIH dollars per faculty member and tenth in best medical schools by U.S. News & World Report.

Yale Cancer Center combines a tradition of innovative cancer research to deliver state-of-the-art treatments and quality care for those suffering from cancer. A National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated comprehensive cancer center for over 45 years, Yale Cancer Center is one of only 54 centers nationwide. Yale Cancer Center is a collaboration between nationally and internationally renowned scientists and physicians at Yale School of Medicine and Smilow Cancer Hospital. This partnership enables the Center to provide the best approaches for the prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.

The successful candidate will participate in For Humanity, Yale's most ambitious campaign to date.

This position allows the candidate to work a hybrid schedule, including three days remotely and two days in the office or traveling for work purposes. Preference will be given to candidates who can be on-site one to two times per week at the office in New Haven, Connecticut.

The successful candidate will be a values-driven, sophisticated development professional knowledgeable about philanthropic and stewardship strategies with demonstrated successful execution in these areas. This individual must be an innovative leader and a skilled relationship builder who will inspire trust and collaboration with senior leadership, faculty and colleagues across the departments and the School.
