Associate Vice President, Graduate and Professional Strategy and Enrollment

SUMMARY

The Associate Vice President, Graduate and Professional Strategy and Enrollment develops and executes comprehensive strategy for graduate and professional program growth and leads and manages enrollment and student services for all graduate and non-traditional programs. Working with academic leaders to expand online education as well as undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs, the AVP will identify and spur the development of new program offerings, press forward into new opportunities for student recruitment, and build strategic alliances and partnerships to further enrollment goals. The AVP will drive enrollment growth by leveraging knowledge of the professional needs and expectations of working adults, a strong business and financial acumen, a keen understanding of proven marketing and recruitment strategies, including digital approaches, and advocacy for the adult, graduate, and non-traditional student learner. The AVP may hold an appointment as Administrative Faculty or staff, reports directly to the Provost + Vice President for Academic Affairs, and serves on the Academic Leadership Council (the Provost's senior leadership team).

Position begins July 1, 2023, though if circumstances allow, the role could be filled prior to that date. Applications and nominations will be reviewed starting immediately, and the search process will continue until the position is filled.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Drive Growth in Graduate and Non-Traditional Enrollment
  • In collaboration with faculty, deans, and other University constituencies, develop and implement an aligned and integrated vision for graduate and professional education in both face-to-face and online settings.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives for recruitment and retention growth of the university's graduate and professional programming.
  • Support and oversee marketing and recruitment efforts related to graduate and professional programming, including in-person, digital, print, and website modalities, in collaboration with the university's Enrollment Management and Marketing departments.
  • Cultivate external relationships and partnerships with community colleges, non-profit and for-profit organizations, churches and affiliated organizations in furtherance of recruitment strategies.
  • Ensure execution of MOUs and articulation agreements with partner institutions.
  • Collaborate with Provost's Office, Deans, Chairs, and Program Directors on implementation and launch of new graduate and professional studies programs.
  • Manage graduate and non-traditional student recruitment and admissions personnel.
  • Report on and analyze enrollment data to identify trends to maximize opportunities and minimize risk.
  • Partner with the Provost in providing cost effective and sound fiscal management.
  • Develop effective communication processes within the community on behalf of graduate and professional studies' faculty, staff, and students.
  • Identify risks to the organization within the department and discuss risk reduction options with immediate supervisor.

Lead Graduate and Professional Academic Services
  • Collaborate with key campus leaders (e.g., Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing, Advancement Communications, Vice President for Student Affairs, Faculty Committees, Academic Affairs leadership) to establish a broad vision for graduate and non-traditional student success, retention, graduation, and career outcomes.
  • Promote synergy between undergraduate and graduate programs across multiple modalities.
  • Provide leadership to the campus in all aspects of academic advising for graduate and professional studies students. Assist and provide leadership in the development of university-wide policies, procedures, technological systems, communication, training, evaluation, and recognition for graduate and professional student advising.
  • Coordinate closely with the Office of Student Success and Academic Services to provide student quality services for non-traditional and graduate students.
  • Proactively partner with Academic Deans and Department Chairs, and other parties to provide curriculum consultation to ensure student academic success and the development of market-informed, student-focused academic programs.
  • Serve as a member of the Provost's Leadership Team and engage in various committees and academic support programs.
  • Provide budget oversight to areas under span of care.
  • Fulfill other duties, as assigned by the Provost/VPAA.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • Vibrant belief in Jesus Christ with ample evidence of personal discipleship.
  • Education: Master's degree in higher education administration, organizational leadership, marketing, or related field. A doctoral degree is strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of higher education experience (at least 5 years in a management role) in Enrollment Management or Academic Affairs, with an emphasis on graduate and non-traditional student recruitment and retention.
  • Strong analytical abilities and requisite knowledge of how to calculate and analyze retention rates, disaggregate and identify retention trends, and infer conclusions from statistical evaluations.
  • Experience collaborating with administration, faculty, and staff as well as successful leadership and team management experience.
  • Alignment with the principles and philosophies of Vanguard University and a lifestyle in consonance with its values. Ability to sign and align with the statement of faith of Vanguard University.
  • Impeccable personal and professional integrity, with the willingness and ability to earn respect and trust.
  • Project management and organizational skills.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency on the Microsoft Office Suite and various data compilation and analysis programs.
  • Knowledge of higher education research trends; regional accreditation standards; mandated state and federal reporting; and research design.
  • Demonstrated commitment as a team player to support and collaborate with senior leadership and faculty colleagues.
  • A commitment to spiritual and organizational health that is expressed in organizational effectiveness, stewardship of resources, collegiality, and personal well-being.
  • Ability to perceive and address systemic patterns of organizational behavior.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that will result in effective collaboration with faculty and key campus stakeholders for strategic thinking, team building, and managing differences. Healthy self-awareness and high levels of emotional intelligence.
  • Regular participation in worship and service within a local church community.
  • A life marked by the love of Christ, consistent with Biblical standards.

SALARY

This is a full-time FLSA exempt position.

Salary Range: $136,900 to $164,300

Placement within the salary range is commensurate upon education and experience. Placement at the upper range is reserved for those that demonstrate the highest level of education and experience necessary for this position. All benefits of current Vanguard Employees would remain the same.
