Job Description

The University of Indianapolis and the Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning (CELL) is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Training Specialist. The Training Specialist will oversee the delivery of statewide training efforts, including the virtual and onsite professional development and training, as part of the IDOE Literacy Cadre. The Training Specialist should have extensive experience in leading and organizing professional development adult learning for large-scale efforts at the corporation or state level.

Responsibilities-Training Specialist
  • Leads the coordination of professional development and training events across the project
  • Provides vision and structures for training and professional development
  • Works collaboratively with the literacy project manager and director regarding content experts for training, professional development and workshops
  • Ensures the on-time delivery of agendas, content, and other materials related to training events for IDOE review
  • Guides, consults, and communicates with the regional Training Specialist Support staff regarding various expectations of the project and cadre assurances
  • Supports the Literacy Project Manager in the facilitation of Training Support Specialist meetings
  • Manages training processes and workflow platforms to accommodate required grant responsibilities and services
  • Monitors and reports on the progress of training and professional development events including feedback and attendance
Qualifications-Training Specialist
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of elementary teaching experience; experience as a literacy specialist, instructional coach, or school administrator
  • Knowledge of the K-12 system and, specifically, deep knowledge of and experience in professional development best practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Clean or acceptable driving record
