Assistant Athletic Trainer (Athletic Sports Performance 1 - MR07)

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will serve as the health care professional who works under the direction of the Team Physician & Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine to care for the health and welfare of all UTC student-athletes.
Primary responsibilities:
- Works in conjunction with Team Physician and Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine to provide healthcare for student-athletes
- Serves as the primary Athletic Trainer for Men’s Basketball
- Serves as the secondary Athletic Trainer for various sports at the discretion of Assistant AD for Sports Medicine
- Serves as the co-Insurance & billing liaison for Men’s Basketball and various sports at the discretion of Assistant AD for Sports Medicine
- Maintains medical records in electronic medical records injury tracking system
- Coordinates administration of athletic pre-participation physicals
- Coordinates maintenance of BOC and state licensure certification for Chattanooga Sports Medicine staff
- Assists Chattanooga Sports Medicine drug testing coordinator and NCAA drug testing coordinator with on-site drug testing
- Assists Assistant Athletic Director - Sports Medicine in coordinating staff orientation for BOC & State Licensure, and teaching upper/lower extremity to GATP students
- Tracks inventory of taping supplies
- Performs cleaning and organization of taping tables
- Displays good communication
- Organized and computer proficient
- Knowledge of computer-based injury-tracking software
- Knowledge of nutrition, strength & condition, and concussion protocols
- Commitment toward student-athlete welfare
- Commitment toward fiscal responsibility
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to provide strong leadership and direction for the assigned administrative areas of responsibility
Minimum Qualifications: Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in athletic training; two years of experience working as an athletic trainer; First Aid and CPR certification; State of Tennessee Athletic Training license or license eligible; and certification by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer. A valid driver’s license is required.
Preferred Qualifications: A master’s degree in athletic training or relevant field; 3-5 years of experience as a certified athletic trainer; experience working with NCAA D1 collegiate athletes and NCAA DI collegiate Men’s Basketball; and additional specialty certifications (dry needling, Graston, etc.) are preferred.
