Work Schedule: M - F 8:30 am - 5:00 pm; some evenings and weekends required

Reports To: Assistant Provost and Executive Director, Division of Community Learning

Anticipated Start Date: July 1, 2023

Job Summary:

The Manager, Athletic Camps and Campus Youth Protection is responsible for coordinating PK-12, community-focused camp/program development, compliance and evaluation, scheduling and organizing facility needs and managing registration for 24 varsity sports. Additionally, this position will serve as the University's leader in developing and monitoring youth protection policies across all PK-12 activities.

This position will work alongside coaches and staff to ensure programs are executed in a manner that fosters evolving growth and development of the Intercollegiate Athletics Department while also closely aligning with the Division of Community Learning's standards, the BW strategic plan and the overall mission of the University.

Essential duties, tasks and responsibilities: The following duties are not to be considered a complete list of duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. These responsibilities are

Athletic Camps:

  • Works alongside BW's head coaches and/or sport-specific staff on camp/program development, implementation and evaluation
  • Coordinates camp/program dates, facilities, housing, meals and transportation
  • Supervises student support in direct hires, internships or field work
  • Oversees the processing of camp/program registrations including payments, deposits, refunds and parent/participant inquiries while working in tandem with the DCL's Strategic Enrollment Systems Manager
  • Maintains records, databases, and produces participant reports
  • Helps to facilitate marketing and branding efforts between camps/programs and the DCL's Director of Marketing and Engagement
  • Conducts the payables/receivables for camps/programs including contracts and payments of camp/program personnel, program expenses and third-party vendors

Youth Protection:

  • Leads a workgroup that reviews and updates division-wide camp/program procedures, waivers and policies in tandem with BW's protocol and with state, regional and national best practices
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (or resource investigator) to evaluate and resolve questions relating to youth protection with university staff, faculty, students or visitors
  • Provides support for promotion and completion of program registration by all affiliated youth activities and program assessments of all those programs
  • Creates educational resources, template forms and instructional materials and communications for hiring and training staff that work with youth programming with a focus on continually improving services and programs to enhance youth safety best practices
  • Creates, implements and monitors procedures for investigations and case management related to youth protection violations
  • Fosters a university-wide culture of responsibility for youth safety at BW
  • Participates as a member of the Higher Education Protection Network

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Proven success in program development and management (logistics, training/supervision of student staff, budget oversight, etc.); experience in higher education preferred
  • Experience managing youth protection policies
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel
  • Values a team environment and collaboration
  • Ability to plan, implement, and manage multiple projects

  • Must hold a valid driver's license
  • Will be required to pass a background check and complete required University compliance training

Compensation:

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Other than some local travel, work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Limited physical effort required. No or limited exposure to physical risk.
