Position Summary:
The Assistant Vice President for Student Development and Executive Director of Housing & Residence Life is a senior administrator in the Division of Student Development who is responsible for the design, implementation, evaluation and administration of a comprehensive residential program that serves approximately 6,5 students living in residence halls, apartments and University owned houses in the student neighborhoods. The Assistant VP works collaboratively with the Vice President for Student Development, the Associate Vice President for Student Development & Dean of Students and key campus partners and stakeholders to establish the strategic direction and vision for the department, set departmental goals and priorities and identify and allocate financial and human resources. In concert with the University's vision for integrated learning and living, the Assistant VP for Student Development and Executive Director of Housing & Residence Life will manage and maintain a vibrant, developmental residential community for students that values, promotes and fosters the development of leadership, civility and faith in the Catholic and Marianist tradition.
Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in Counseling, College Student Personnel, Higher Education, or related field.
Ten years professional experience working in residence life and/or housing operations.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of student development theory and practice.
Demonstrated ability to work with an increasingly diverse campus community.
Demonstrated experience in supervising undergraduate, graduate, professional and clerical/administrative staff.
Demonstrated experience with responding to and managing emergency situations as part of an on call crisis/duty rotation.
Demonstrated experience with adjudicating student conduct.
Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders in a university setting.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and implement staff development and training programs in residential life.
Demonstrated experience with planning and assessing student learning outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate and administer departmental budgets.
Possession of strong interpersonal skills.
Possession of strong written skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Eleven or more year's professional experience working resident life and/or housing operations.
Demonstrated ability to analyze, synthesize, and summarize data and present information both in writing and in presentations to a variety of constituents.
Possession of strong problem solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of performance.
Demonstrated knowledge of current trends and practices in higher education.
Demonstrated experience with conflict management and resolutions practices (i.e.; mediation, restorative justice).
Familiarity with and value for Catholic Higher Education.
Possession of strong organizational skills. Possession of strong communication skills.

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide. With this development, the University will pause any enforcement action against employees who have not complied with the requirement to be fully vaccinated by Dec. 8, 2021 or to have requested an exemption to maintain their employment status.
