About the Department of Computer Science and Information Security (CSIS):

The CSIS department represents an array of disciplines that utilize all manner of technology to teach industry-relevant skills in computer science, programming, software engineering, information technology, and cybersecurity. The Computer Science degree is accredited by ABET, and the Cybersecurity degree is designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence (NCAE-C). Additionally, we have a Masters degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance, and are developing a Masters in Computer Science. The department is growing, and currently serves approximately 300 undergraduate majors and 35 graduate majors.

Job Description:

The Department of Computer Science and Information Security at Southern Utah University invites applications for a full-time Non-tenure track (NTT) faculty position at the Lecturer, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor level to begin August 2023. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related discipline.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include providing a quality educational experience in a variety of Computer Science courses for majors and non-majors in a student-centered environment. Additionally, faculty are responsible for the use of effective teaching strategies and curriculum development. All faculty teach courses at the undergraduate level in computer science, and an ability to teach general information technology and/or cybersecurity courses is a plus. Additional responsibilities include scholarly activity, active participation on service committees, and other duties as needed to support a robust and dynamic environment for student learning. Non-tenure track faculty teach 30 credit hours per year (5 courses per semester) and are encouraged to engage collaboratively with students and peers on scholarly activities that generate presentations at local or regional venues.

1. Non-tenure track faculty may be expected to teach in face-to-face, hybrid, or purely online modalities.
2. Active participation and collaboration with the department to enhance a robust Computer Science curriculum based upon industry standards as communicated by an Industry Advisory Board (IAB).
3. Participate in and support the continuance of the program accreditation within the Department.
4. Fulfill service opportunities within the department, college, and university.

Education and Experience Requirements:

1. Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
2. Commitment and ability to deliver quality teaching.
3. Effective communication skills and the ability to interact positively with faculty, staff, and students.
4. Evidence of potential scholarly activity.
