Job Description
The Programming and Engagement Coordinator is a member of the Student Life team whose responsibilities are the planning, implementation, and assessment of all small and large-scale programming and events. This person will create focused engagement opportunities for special populations of students, including but not limited to PSEO, parent groups or other identified special populations. Additionally, oversees commencement committee and graduation planning efforts at North Hennepin Community College The position will also coordinate academic outreach efforts and serve as the liaison for campus and community partnerships, the Diversity & Equity Office, and other campus departments as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Understanding of strategic planning, monitoring trends, innovation, learner outcomes and assessment.
- Promoting, scheduling, supervising, and conducting student activities and events.
- Strong computer skills Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) including social networking and editing websites.
- Experience working with student groups.
- Ability to travel, work evenings and weekends.
- Possess group process, conflict management and decision-making skills sufficient to lead or advise students in discussion and decision making.
- Master’s Degree in Student Development or related field.
- Experience in post-secondary setting in Student Life or Student Services is preferred.
- Experience in strategic planning and policy development.
- Experience with continuous quality improvement.
- Experience in monitoring trends and innovation.
- Knowledge of higher education principles and practices in the areas of student life, student development, and student leadership.
- Dynamic interpersonal skills with a proven track record of being able to build community while engaging and inspiring student involvement in student life activities, organizations and leadership programs.
- Experience serving diverse populations and assessing their needs.
- Possess a student focused/centered approach to their job responsibilities.
