The Director of Law School Admissions is a senior member of the JD admissions policy and planning team and works under the general oversight of and reporting to the Assistant Dean for JD and Graduate Admissions. The Director supports the Assistant Dean in developing and implementing a strategy for recruiting and yielding prospective students as well as with data tracking and report-management. The Director plays a key role in enrolling a JD class of full-time and part-time weekend students annually that meets the law school's qualitative and quantitative goals. The Director also has oversight of and responsibility for scheduling and effective management of prospective student programs, the development and implementation of new/innovative recruitment strategies, the development and administration of recruitment initiatives and lead responsibility for developing the strategic direction and focus of the admissions web site and print marketing materials. The Director assists with the overall administration of recruitment, admissions and marketing strategies and is the lead professional responsible for coordination of on and off-site events.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. The Director of Admissions is one of the Law School's primary admissions recruiters and counselors. Substantial applicant/prospective student contact requires the ability to communicate the rigors of attending law school and pursuing a legal career. The Director of Admissions is responsible for at least 30% of all travel.
2. The Director of Admissions is the lead admissions event coordinator. This role manages the coordination for all on-site events. These include individualized visits by prospective students, major open house programs, and small group information sessions. The Director is responsible for the development of new/innovative recruitment strategies and for assisting in the development of new initiatives.
3. Responsible for coordinating with public relations/marketing and website management the admissions priorities for social media, web presence and print publications. Utilizes technological tools, including CRM systems, to devise and administer recruitment initiatives, including Candidate Referral Service (CRS) bulk mailings and other projects.
4. Evaluates, provides comments, and recommends decisions for approximately half the JD applicant pool.
5. The Director of Admissions selects and manages work-study students and student volunteers who regularly interact with prospective students including training and evaluation.
6. The Director of Admissions is a key member of the policy and planning team. The Director works with the Assistant Dean of JD and Graduate Admissions to determine new initiatives, recruitment planning and policy direction of the office and supports the Assistant Dean with data tracking and reporting through web analytics.
7. Additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean for JD and Graduate Admissions.
Required Qualifications:
- JD, Master's Degree, or comparable equivalent
- 3-5 years working in higher education enrollment
management
- Demonstrates strong organization and interpersonal skills that
show an ability to work independently, as well as part of a
team.
Desired Qualifications:
- Professional (non-student) experience working in JD/law school
admissions.
- Experience with ACES2 or Unite (Unite is strongly
preferred)
- Specialized knowledge of the admissions and financial aid
process, understanding of law school curriculum, course offerings
and faculty interests and research specialties. Knowledge of ABA
requirements and other law school specific regulatory and industry
issues.
- Understanding of the practice of law.
