FULL-TIME PROGRAM COORDINATOR/INSTRUCTOR FOR ENGINEERING

ANNOUNCEMENT: Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track position of Program Coordinator/Instructor in the Engineering Program within the Math and Science Division. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2023.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The program coordinator/faculty shall be responsible to the Dean of Math & Sciences for the general management of the Engineering and Pre-Engineering Programs. The organization, pedagogy, review, continued development and general effectiveness, and marketing of the educational programs shall be the coordinator/instructor’s primary responsibility.  As a faculty member, this person shall be responsible, when teaching, for delivering and maintaining instruction, evaluating and assisting students, and participating in departmental and institutional operations. The program coordinator/faculty shall oversee the development and maintenance of the engineering labs and equipment, mentor and oversee part-time faculty in their responsibilities and work closely with the chair and dean, advisory committee(s), and community partners to develop the facilities and resources necessary to offer competitive engineering programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master’s degree or higher in Engineering from an accredited institution.
2. Ability to teach all course offerings in Engineering at SWIC.
3. Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers, applicable software, and Internet required.
4. Background in course design, program development, long-range planning, quality assessment/performance improvement preferred.

SALARY: This position salary is determined by placement on the base salary schedule in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.  For example, the minimum 2023-2024 starting salary at Step 1 on the Master’s degree column is $51,976. The actual starting salary is determined by educational attainment level and experience. Voluntary overload and summer teaching assignments may also be available which would increase the annual compensation. The college offers a comprehensive flexible benefit program.

WORK LOCATION: Belleville Campus with district-wide responsibilities.
