Medical Physiology Faculty Position

Biomedical Sciences

 

Summary: The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine is actively searching for a highly qualified individual to fill a 12-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Medical Physiology. The successful applicant must have a PhD, MD, DO or related terminal degree. A commitment to excellence in teaching is required as this is the primary responsibility of the position. Experience teaching cardiovascular and/or gastrointestinal physiology is preferred.  Completion of a postdoctoral fellowship is desirable. Applicants with an equivalent combination of relevant and recent experience, education, or training that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.  Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to actively engage in research or other scholarly activity and provide service to WVSOM.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities

WVSOM utilizes a Patient Presentation Based Curriculum in which all disciplines are integrated, employing a variety of formats and modalities including lecture, lab, small group, and Team Based Learning.  Team-teaching is routine and the successful applicant will be expected to work collaboratively in the delivery of physiology content.  Teaching facilities at WVSOM include a cutting-edge lecture facility, team-based learning room, and a state-of-the-art simulation center.   The successful candidate will also be expected to conduct research or scholarly activity. Research facilities and research start-up funds are available.

 

This position will be filled at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor commensurate with experience. Salary will be commensurate with experience and includes an excellent benefits package and moving expenses.
