The New Mexico State University Department of Kinesiology is seeking a full-time, 9-month, visiting assistant professor that will assist in achieving the department’s mission of teaching and service. The faculty member must be able to provide undergraduate instruction in various areas of the department’s undergraduate curriculum. The faculty member will participate in faculty governance, strategic planning, curriculum review, student outcome assessment, and advisement of undergraduate students. Finally, faculty members in the department of Kinesiology are expected to demonstrate a commitment to LEADS 2025: https://leads2025.nmsu.edu/

Required Qualifications: 

  • Possess an earned master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field.
  • Be able to provide undergraduate and graduate instruction in the areas of sport and exercise psychology, motor behavior, anatomy and physiology, and/or introductory courses in kinesiology.
  • Provide evidence of an ability to teach and mentor undergraduate students.
  • Be able to work with diverse faculty and students in a collaborative manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Can effectively teach in one or more of the following undergraduate areas: sport and/or exercise psychology, neurophysiology, anatomy and physiology, motor behavior, pathophysiology, introduction to kinesiology, and/or other kinesiology related areas.
  • Possess the ability to recruit and mentor undergraduate students.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of providing service to the professional and/or academic community.
