Purpose of Position

To assist the Research Foundation Accounting Manager in post-award administration of all restricted grants and contracts, insuring all actions are made in accordance with applicable regulations and other terms and conditions of each award. Provide primary backup coverage in the absence of the Research Foundation Accounting Manager.

Primary Responsibilities

Regular duties:
  • Review grant financial transactions for compliance with Federal, State, and University regulations and funding agency terms.
  • Work with individual project directors on administration and close out of specific grants.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of financial reports for all grants and contracts as required, for both internal and external users. Perform additional duties of similar nature and level of responsibility as required.
Periodic Duties:
  • Monitor established budgets for external grants and NKU subgrants.
  • Administration of Stream and Wetland Restoration Fund, preparing reconciliations, journal entries, and bank reconciliation.
  • Prepare calculations/work papers and draw funds for federal grants.
  • Prepare work papers for NKU subgrant billings
  • Prepare NKU -restricted funds quarterly journal entries and reports.
  • Prepare NKU Research Foundation quarterly journal entries and reports.
  • Prepare quarterly, semi-annual, annual, and final financial reports for Federal Grants.
  • Participate in fiscal year closing, prepare journal entries, and review of accounts, reconciliations, and reports.
  • Prepare Research Foundation financial statements, footnotes, MDA, and the schedule of federal awards.
  • Provide information and documentation to internal and external auditors, for federal Single Audit, Stream and Wetland Restoration Fund report, NKU Research Foundation IRS 990, and University and Research Foundation annual audits.
  • Prepare annual NSF HERD survey
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of related experience. Acceptable equivalency: Public accounting experience or private/non-profit experience at senior accountant level or above.

Attention to detail; excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
Sponsored project administration experience desired.
SAP experience preferred.
Knowledge of 0MB Circulars.
Ability to operate a computer and calculator.
