The Research Assistant position will assist with performing experiments according to established project protocols, provide technical support to ongoing research, and assist with lab coordination and other project research activities using a mixture of cell biology and biochemistry methods. Dependability, productivity, and self-motivation are necessary assets. Also, the Research Assistant must have the desire and ability to think critically and solve problems.

The de Graffenried lab at Brown University studies microtubule-associated proteins in Trypanosomatid parasites. Trypanosomatid cells are shaped by an array of subpellicular microtubules that underlie the plasma membrane. This array contains subdomains defined by different microtubule-associated proteins, which may function to tune the local properties of the microtubules, allowing them to turn the force generated by the flagellar beat into productive cell motility. The lab employs a wide range of techniques, including light and electron microscopy, biophysics, and biochemistry.

This is a fixed-term position with a current end date of 05/31/24 which may be extended based upon available funding.
