Position Summary
Responsible for the operational and administrative processes for success coaching, leads strategic and tactical initiatives of the assigned student success division. Provides strategic leadership for the College’s comprehensive success coaching program overseeing 300 employees. Responsible for building collaborative partnerships between academic affairs, student affairs, and continuing education while providing leadership for success coaching, case management, and TSI. The Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Success collaborates with a variety of faculty, student affairs, and academic departments and works closely with the Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Success and Vice Chancellor for Student Success across all seven Dallas College Campuses to provide comprehensive student support services through a robust success coaching and case management program.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee Dallas College’s Success Coaching, TSI, and Case
Management program, while providing centralized leadership for the
College’s various success coaching programs. These include programs
designed specifically for traditional, dual credit, continuing
education, evening services, and special population students.
- Provides direct supervision to Deans of Success Coaching and
Dean of Special Programs
- Provide oversight of 300 staff members including day-to-day
supervision, evaluation, and ensure expectations and accountability
measures are in place
- Ensure appropriate levels of integration between success
coaching, academic, and continuing education needs.
- Oversee multimillion dollar success coaching staff and
operational budget.
- Create and utilize a network of relationships with faculty,
staff, and administrators to effectively deliver success coaching
and case management services.
- Facilitate collaboration between multiple areas and available
campus resources to provide opportunities for coaching students
through major and career decision-making processes.
- Lead the direction of success coaching programs and
interventions including, but not limited to, success coaching, case
management, registration, skill development, success plans, early
alert, engagement touchpoints, multiple measures, and TSI
initiatives.
- Administer oversight of student progress monitoring to support
students proactively and holistically. Recommend resources and
solutions to academic difficulties and barriers
- Provide leadership for the planning, implementing, and
evaluating co-curricular programs that promote academic
achievement, career exploration, and a sense of belonging for all
students.
- Facilitate the development of a culture that recognizes,
affirms, and helps students draw upon cultural, communal, and
identity-based ways of knowing, being, and doing to achieve
educational outcomes.
- Lead success coaching equity related initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and assess a comprehensive student success
and retention plan to include strategies and interventions informed
by theory, inclusive and equitable practices, and data-informed
practices that enhance student retention and graduation
rates.
- Contribute to assessment, accreditation, and other continuous
improvement processes
- Develop, implement, and assess student learning and program
learning outcomes for success coaching.
- Effectively presents information to educational groups,
organizations, staff, students, and administration, both verbally
and in writing.
- Attends meetings of pertinent professional groups and related
organizational meetings and conferences.
- Develops goals, objectives, strategies, and facilitates
organizational growth and change. Manages personnel and ensures
compliance with Dallas College administrative and operational
policies and procedures.
- Adapts and manages assignments as they evolve and/or replaced
by other priorities in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
- Works directly with senior and mid-level executives to clarify
decisions, logic, and data.
- Oversee the creation of programming to enhance success coaching
effectiveness and its impact on student learning, development, and
progress.
- Works collaboratively and cross-functionally within the Dallas
College community network
- Develops and directs the strategic planning of multiple
projects, overseeing coordination of personnel and resources
required to successfully complete projects.
- Plans the delivery of the overall program and its activities in
accordance with the mission and the goals of the
organization.
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with
diverse internal/external stakeholders and constituents within the
Dallas College community network to achieve the goals of the client
and to ensure effective and efficient program delivery.
- Work closely with stakeholders from across the college to
develop consensus around the project/program and its
implementation.
- Helps develop and manage communication among leadership,
reporting and monitoring of key metrics/activities of key industry
activities.
- Provides staff with the tools, resources, and materials
necessary to meet the goals of the organization and success
coaching unit
- Performs other job-related duties and special projects as
required.
- Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision
of Dallas College
- Experience leading or managing major change initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks/projects
simultaneously and work well under pressure.
- Knowledge regarding accreditation and THECB requirements
regarding TSI and other state initiatives
- Proven capacity to work inclusively with executive associates,
and collaboratively with management, information technology, human
resources, and finance professionals etc.
- Demonstrate and be able to apply excellent knowledge of
contemporary research which underpins high impact coaching,
advising, case management, and student success strategies.
- Demonstrate a depth of knowledge and experience in relation to
academic advising, success coaching, case management, Guided
Pathways, and career services.
- Demonstrate strong supervision, management, and development
experience that promotes high expectations for employee
accountability and quality customer service.
- Demonstrate experience leading, tracking and monitoring
employee performance in a remote work environment.
- Be proficient in the use of quantitative and qualitative data
to improve the student experience and increase student success
outcomes (persistence, completion, transfer, and employment).
- Be familiar with relevant national policies, practices and
legislation that relates to pathway development and support.
- Respond appropriately to issues in a dynamic rapidly changing
educational/economic environment
- Demonstrate an understanding of emerging technologies and the
effective application of service technologies to enhance student
academic planning, tracking, and engagement with internal and
external resources and supports.
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
best practices and professional learning strategies to create a
sense of belonging and address historic and systemic inequities for
student success.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of program
evaluation and student outcome assessment.
- Possess an understanding of budget preparation and
management.
- Excellent time management, organization, problem-solving, and
communication skills. Demonstrate strong verbal and writing skills
and an ability to effectively communicate complex ideas with
clarity and precision.
- An appreciation of participatory governance and evidence of
strong ability to work effectively and collaboratively with
administration, faculty, students, staff, and other constituent
groups and partners, both within and outside a college or
university with diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and
ethnic backgrounds
- Knowledge of current research and policy recommendations as
well as state and national initiatives designed to enhance success
coaching and case management initiatives.
- Experience in strategic planning, assessment of program(s)
effectiveness, and development of guidelines to improve the
educational and career outcomes for students.
- Demonstrated knowledge of principles of equity and inclusion
and a demonstrated commitment to the promotion of diversity.
- Provides management and accountability for the administration,
development, assessment and improvement of services and experiences
which meet and support the College’s mission and strategic
objectives.
- Experience deploying data-informed and results oriented
programs and supports.
- Excellent leadership and customer service skills.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in higher education, student development, community college leadership or related field plus five (5) years of relevant progressively responsible higher education administrative experience related to the position.
- Official transcripts required.
