The School of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts (PVFA) at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time, Academic Professional Track instructional assistant/associate professor or assistant/associate professor of the practice (depending on qualifications) position with a nine-month, non tenure-track academic appointment beginning Fall 2023.

PVFA and the Section of Dance, Music, and Theatre Performance seek an individual with expertise in piano performance. The competitive applicant will have experience teaching piano lessons in the university setting and leading an ensemble (genre open). Preference will be given to candidates who teach and perform in a variety of styles (classical, folk, popular) and diverse genres (such as jazz, Latin American/Caribbean, African, or other global genres). Candidates who can teach courses about historical and cultural contexts of instrumental performance practices are particularly encouraged to apply.

The School of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts is a new school within the Texas A&M University System and has a diverse and dynamic mission with over 60 faculty and 15 staff members and a projected exponential growth in the next 5 years. The school was formed from three departments/programs spread across the university: the Department of Visualization, the Department of Performance Studies, and the Dance Science program. The mission of the school places a heavy emphasis on faculty and student collaboration and interdisciplinary work in both scholarly and creative research. Texas A&M University leadership has charged PVFA with developing innovative research and creative works, public performances, and degree offerings at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels that build upon our strength in merging art and science, as well as the traditional fields of music, dance, art, and theater. PVFA is projected to move into a new, $175 million state-of-the-art visual and performing arts center with construction slated to begin in 2024.
