Community Autism Network (CAN) Group Facilitator



Job Summary

A CAN Group Facilitator will engage in organizing and hosting community events, facilitating group programming by engaging participants in discussion and focusing discussions on a particular topic, and performing administrative tasks to organize and communicate with relevant stakeholders

Job Description

Essential Job Duties :
  • Plans, organizes, and hosts community events.
  • Communicate via phone and email with community members.
  • Prepares and organizes for group including purchasing, review of materials, etc.
  • Expected time commitment is 4-6 hours/week.

Required Qualifications :
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Must have strong interest in working with individuals with autism.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
  • Have experience facilitating psychosocial skills groups.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, and Office Suite applications.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Promote a common purpose consistent with stated University goals and demonstrate a commitment to students and the learning environment.
  • Possess the knowledge of general written standards and procedures utilized, and have the ability to read, interpret, and follow procedural and policy manuals related to the job tasks.
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond to supervision, guidance, and direction in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies.
  • Provide quality customer service by creating a welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Present a professional image in word, action and attire.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in dealing with a diverse population while understanding and respecting each other's view of the world, personalities and working styles.
  • Apply effective techniques to create working relationships with others to achieve common goals; successfully communicate and collaborate with others to achieve goals.
  • Demonstrate skills necessary to look at situations and processes critically to make recommendations for improvement
