COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST

Minimum $45,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Job Summary:

The UW Babcock Dairy Store is seeking a Communications Specialist who will support the growing communication initiatives within the UW Babcock Dairy Store. The Dairy Store is part of the UW Babcock Dairy Plant which is one of a few university dairy plant operations in the United States. This operation serves as a dairy industry leader by linking the University's faculty, staff, students and the dairy food industries in order to address key issues resulting in the transfer of technology and communication of information.

Under general supervision of the Dairy Store Manager, the position will provide writing, research, and marketing support for a wide range of education, information, and promotion resources and initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Develops and drafts communication content and assists in the execution of the communications strategy in support of unit communication goals.
  • 30% Monitors reach and effectiveness of communication campaigns, projects, and initiatives
  • 25% Plans editorial content according to established goals and objects
  • 15% Communicates with stakeholders to verify requests and identify editorial resources
  • 20% Writes, edits, and publishes content for various communication projects and marketing platforms to align with strategic initiatives and established communication campaigns
  • 10% Provides project management and execution of communications programs, initiatives, and tactical plans

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree
Degree or specialization in communications or marketing preferred

Qualifications:

Preferred Experience:
1-3 years experience in design written content development (internship or professional experience).

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of WordPress and media relations principles.
- Experience with photography to create webpage content and marketing materials.
- Familiarity with content generation, analytics tracking, and audience building in social media.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to foster excellent working relationships.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in seeking out solutions.

Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
