Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer in Experiential Learning



Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer in Experiential Learning in the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.: 519855), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

The Faculty of Social Sciences has adopted two overarching themes of non-paid, off-campus experiential learning for undergraduate curricula: Social Innovation (SI) and Global Citizenship (GC). Currently, we have engaged more than 150 community partners for SIGC. By joining our Experiential Learning team, the successful candidate will play a key role in our efforts to provide innovative and engaging experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate students, focusing on Social Innovation and/or Psychology. He/She will have the opportunity to be part of a vibrant community of educators and scholars who are dedicated to providing an exceptional learning experience for our students.

Applicants should possess a Master's degree or above in a social sciences-related discipline such as psychology, social work, counselling, or social innovation. They should have at least three years of post-qualification working experience in relevant professional or academic settings. Candidates with additional counselling training are especially welcome. We seek an innovator with strong organisational, administrative, interpersonal, and networking skills. Excellent communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) are essential. Candidates with experience in starting their social innovation projects are highly desirable. The ability to work effectively and successfully with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds, including students and community partners, and to foster sensitivity to and competency regarding diverse issues in a university community, is also essential.

The appointee will have a diverse set of responsibilities that includes supervising local and non-local internships, integrating social innovation and career development into the programme, managing internship administration, collaborating with community partners, organising events, and promoting the Social Innovation and Global Citizenship (SIGC) programme. Successful candidate with a psychology background will also be responsible for managing psychology-related internships.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary for Lecturer, or up to 10% of basic salary for Assistant Lecturer.
