Position Description

The Department of Medicine, University of Washington (UW) is recruiting a full-time faculty member to join the Division of Nephrology based at University of Washington Medical Center. This position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, without tenure due to funding (WOT). Assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.  Anticipated start date will be August 1, 2023. 

Candidates will be expected to participate in clinical care, patient-oriented research and scholarly work in the field of nephrology.  Participation in research will addresses the full spectrum of kidney disease.  The selected candidate will be expected to publish scholarly work. As a faculty member, duties will include clinical care, teaching and mentoring residents and fellows in inpatient and outpatient settings.    

The base salary range for this position will be: $17,000 - $18,000 per month ($204,000 to $216,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Qualifications

Candidates should have an MD (or foreign equivalent) and be board certified in Nephrology (or foreign equivalent). The candidate must have completed a nephrology fellowship within the United States. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
