Location: Phoenix, AZ

Description

Arizona State University’s (ASU) College of Health Solutions (CHS) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor in Dissemination & Implementation (D&I) Science.

ASU is poised to become a national leader in D&I science and CHS is seeking an exceptional academic leader who is looking for a unique opportunity to accelerate this growth trajectory of ASU’s D&I science portfolio.

The expertise of the candidate should be among a broad set of D&I methodological and content areas including implementation models and frameworks, pragmatic research methods and evaluation, mixed methods approaches, and multi-level programs. The candidate should have a track record of applying this expertise within community-engaged research contexts within the domain areas of prevention, health equity, health behavior change, cancer prevention and control, diabetes and obesity, child health and welfare, health systems, behavioral health, psychology, or other fields germane to D&I science. Applications from established researchers at all levels are welcome. Responsibilities for this position include developing and maintaining a successful research program, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring students and early career faculty, and providing service to the program and university, as well as to the community and profession. They will also play a role in the interdisciplinary leadership team of our D&I Affinity Network and Mountain States Community-Engaged D&I Institute (MS-CEDI); see details below. The ideal candidate will present evidence of a successful research trajectory commensurate with the appropriate rank (Assistant, Associate, Professor) including promise of or sustained extramural funding and peer-reviewed publications, and a strong commitment to high quality teaching and mentoring.

At ASU and the College of Health Solutions, we work to maximize opportunities for people of diverse backgrounds, abilities and perspectives. We value and encourage cultural and intellectual diversity, and strive to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all faculty, staff and students — which we believe is critical to our success as a community. All individuals who can strengthen the diversity of our academic community are encouraged to apply, and will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other basis protected by law.

About the Dissemination & Implementation Science Affinity Network at ASU

The D&I Affinity Network exists to accelerate science along the translational research continuum by rapidly scaling evidence-based interventions into real-world settings and demonstrating community-level impact. The D&I Affinity Network has developed and hosted an annual faculty training program for the past five years, recently expanding this program to form a regional partnership in the Mountain States (MS-CEDI), including University of Utah, University of New Mexico, The Mayo Clinic, University of Arizona, and Johns Hopkins’ Center for Indigenous Health. The goal of this training program is to build capacity for community-engaged D&I science among early-career and experienced faculty expanding their research program toward D&I science. The D&I Affinity Network also convenes a monthly seminar series with leading national and international experts to discuss contemporary topics in D&I science and provides consultation on grants and other projects to support the D&I science focused efforts of faculty, students, and community partners. Our network is diverse with 50+ member representatives of faculty, staff, students, and community partners across ASU and public health and healthcare organizations in Arizona. Our 8-member D&I Affinity Network Leadership Team has broad expertise across implementation science domains and is drawn from four ASU colleges and departments and clinical partners: CHS, Edson College of Nursing & Health Innovation, Psychology, Social Work, and Mayo Clinic Arizona. Our team develops innovative and collaborative methods to draw upon the depth of expertise in all areas of D&I science across ASU, with special themes and emphasis in community-engaged approaches to D&I research.

About the College of Health Solutions

The College of Health Solutions is committed to translating scientific health research and discovery into practice to improve health outcomes through education, research and service. We equip students with the knowledge and skills to influence healthier lifestyle choices; develop creative interventions to improve the health of people and populations; analyze and translate large amounts of health data into solutions; and maximize the technology, science, business and application of diagnostics.

Through teaching, academic programs, service and research, all faculty at the College of Health Solutions address one or more of our three major areas of focus: 1) The systems of health care and the health needs of populations; 2) Health and human performance of individuals across the lifespan; 3) Personalized interventions through precision health. Across these areas, we work to address complex and difficult health problems which require transformative collaboration, translational research and innovation. We are particularly interested in making an impact on populations with significant health disparities.

Our research programs encompass basic science, discovery science, clinical trials, intervention science and measurement of health outcomes. In all cases, our faculty use interdisciplinary approaches to address the complex systems that underpin health problems. We are highly collaborative, transparent and team-oriented. Our innovative organizational structure includes translational teams that move science from labs into communities with evidence-based interventions that make a difference, as well as affinity networks where teams of people work together to improve methodologies and processes. All of our programs, in and out of the classroom, are designed with the goal of improving the health of people and communities.

Current training programs include behavioral health, biomedical diagnostics, biomedical informatics, exercise science, health promotion, health sciences, kinesiology, medical studies, nutrition, population health, the science of health care delivery, and speech and hearing science. Our programs are offered at the ASU Downtown Phoenix, Tempe, Polytechnic, West and Lake Havasu campuses, as well as on Mayo Clinic’s campus in north Phoenix.
