Position Overview:
  • Evaluates degree requirements and certifies undergraduate degrees at the University.
  • Communicates with University personnel and undergraduate students regarding status of graduation applications.
  • Runs degree audit reports and explains results to advisors and students.
  • Enters approved substitutions, waivers, and exceptions into university degree audit system.
  • Reviews undergraduate student applications and determines eligibility for graduation candidacy.
  • Reviews processed applications to determine graduation eligibility once prior semester in-progress grades are updated.
  • Determines final eligibility for degree certification once final semester grades are processed.
  • Reviews transcripts and degree audit reports to troubleshoot and resolve GPA requirements, attributes, credit hours, and other degree requirement issues.
  • Communicates to students by letters, phone calls, e-mail, and personal contact about their graduation eligibility.
  • Updates curricular and catalog changes in the degree audit tables.
  • Helps organize and participate in the “Old North Walk” for the commencement ceremonies.
  • Assist in developing training materials and conducts training sessions on use of degree audit system by students, advisors, faculty, and administrators.
  • Assist in determining transfer course equivalencies and updating the student information system to reflect new or altered course equivalencies and general education approved courses.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience Required:

Requires a bachelor's degree in field plus 3+ years of relevant experience in higher education or 7+ years of equivalent work experience.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred :

Experience with the process of verifying completion of university degree requirements or advising students on certification process. Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Attentive to detail. Accurately interpret degree requirements. Ability to calculate future GPA based on estimated grades. Knowledge of Ellucian Banner student information system or Degree Works degree audit system. Knowledge of degree programs, college requirements, and the general operation of UCO preferred.
