JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Vice President of Campus Administration and Strategic Initiatives, the Director of City and Community Outreach and Programming will develop, coordinate, administer, and evaluate community programs and special projects for Northeastern Oakland. Working in collaboration with the Community Relations Coordinator (Boston) and other CCE staff, this position will be an active and responsible contributor to our local and campus communities by fostering collaborative relationships and partnerships that connect, educate, and engage people and organizations throughout our network. The Director of City and Community Outreach and Programming will lead programs and partnership initiatives with several focus areas related to community/civic engagement: hosting residents and community groups on campus, managing small business and neighborhood association partnerships, delivering programs and offerings open to the public, both on and off campus, representing the University and campus at Oakland meetings, such as Chamber of Commerce, City Council, Rotary Club, etc.

Collaborates with various stakeholders and cultivates existing relationships to work towards Northeastern's vision of becoming a model institution for community engagement. This position also works closely with Oakland and CCE leadership to set and meet the department's budget and program oriented goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and skills required for this position are normally obtained through a Bachelor's degree and five year's of relevant experience in program management and strategic planning required; Master's degree preferred

  • Effective abilities in planning and running programs.
  • Effective abilities in organization, supervision, administration, and budget management.
  • Willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends.
  • Have 5-8 years of progressive responsibility and leadership experience in community/civic engagement, community development, public administration, or higher education.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details.
  • Have working knowledge of the Oakland community with special attention to East Oakland.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Generate and facilitate partnerships and programs that respond to the needs, interests, and concerns of the residents, businesses, and other community organizations surrounding Northeastern's Oakland campus.

Refine existing, and/or establish new, internal goals, systems, processes and tools for tracking, collecting and sharing the outcomes, measurements and knowledge that is generated by those programs and partnerships.

Oversee program creation and development, with a focus on establishing new and innovative pathways for internal and external collaboration.

Assist in developing an external identity for Northeastern's community programs.

Assist in developing outreach strategy for the Northeastern Oakland and any future community-specific spaces on campus.

Support CCE staff in planning and implementing new & existing programs.

Perform other duties as assigned.

The expected hiring range is $123,395 to $160,410 based on the position's scope and responsibilities.
