Position Purpose
Reporting to the Director of the Undergraduate Deans Office, the Associate Director partners with the Director in the management of all departmental programs and services. Through direct student advising and the supervision of the upper-class deans, the Associate Director supports undergraduate students’ intellectual and personal growth consistent with the mission of the College and facilitates the consistent, equitable administration of College policies and procedures.

- Proven record of effectiveness in student advising and development of programs that address the needs of students from underrepresented backgrounds and promote student success.
- Exceptional organizational skills, problem-solving, proficiency in teamwork, collaboration, flexibility, and strong communication to multiple audiences.
- Capacity to foster strong and effective relationships with students, faculty, staff, families, and campus partners.
- Solid foundation in student developmental theory and its application to professional practice in student affairs.
- Commitment to DEI work in higher education.
- Experience with on-call responsibilities and student crisis management.
- Master’s Degree with 5-8 years of progressively responsible experience in undergraduate academic support services, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Professional experience in Student Affairs strongly preferred.
- Experience working in the context of a highly selective liberal arts institution

Management
· Oversees recruitment, hiring, training, management and evaluation of the upper-level dean team (i.e., undergraduate deans for the sophomore, junior, and senior classes)
· Provides day-to-day support and guidance for the upper-level dean team consistent with Undergraduate Deans Office policies and practices
· Works with the Office Manager to develop and maintain office schedules to ensure appropriate coverage

· Serves in the on-call rotation for after-hours/weekend campus emergency management and coordinates with Case Management regarding heightened student situations.
· Supports the consistent, equitable administration of College policies and processes, including but not limited to course Incompletes, student enrollment status (e.g., time away and returning), and academic actions

· Collaborates with campus partners on programming that holistically supports student success, including but not limited to Transfer and Exchange Student Orientation, Sophomore through Senior Year Programming, Peer Advising, and Family Weekends
· Supports team collaboration with varied offices on campus to support the mission of Student Affairs

Student Advising
· Advises a caseload of students returning to the College after time away for medical, personal, academic, and/or conduct-related reasons
· Provides proactive, holistic advising on academic, personal, and social matters
· Monitors academic progress of students and proactively supports students in “at risk” categories
· Works with colleagues within and outside of Student Affairs, including faculty, to facilitate the successful transition of returning students back to the College
