Position Description

The Science, Mathematics, and Social Science faculty in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts on the Downtown Phoenix campus of Arizona State University invite applications to establish a pool for Science Faculty Associates for the 2023-2024 academic year. The successful candidate(s) will teach undergraduate courses in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics; prepare class materials; evaluate student work, and hold office hours to assist students. Science Faculty Associates may also be responsible for teaching or oversight of lab and recitation sections. Faculty Associate positions are one semester, non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed an average of .40 FTE per semester. The number of courses is contingent upon unit needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics or related field at time of appointment
  • Ability to teach in digital environments such as Canvas (asynchronously and/or synchronously)
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and Inclusion

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in Biology, Chemistry or Physics or related field at time of appointment
  • Two semesters’ post-secondary experience teaching Biology, Chemistry or Physics courses in-person and/or on-line
  • Experience teaching in a large lecture environment
  • Experience teaching science labs and/or recitations
  • Evidence of effective teaching
  • Demonstrated success meeting the needs of underrepresented students and/or diverse communities
  • Experience teaching in a digital environment such as Canvas (asynchronously and/or synchronously)
