Position Summary:

The Accounting Specialist reviews and performs accounting functions within districtwide accounts receivables and reconciliation of general ledger accounts. May compile and analyze financial information for entry into Banner and subsidiary general ledger accounts from college bank statements.

Primary Duties Performed:
  • Serve as a primary contact regarding Accounts Receivable functions.
  • Assist with check run processing.
  • May communicate daily with external agencies such as Bank Mobile, Missouri Department of
    Revenue, and the main depository bank of the college.
  • Monitor accuracy of data and financial information in Banner Finance and
    subsidiary general ledger accounts.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts with the student accounting system and daily
    bank activity statements.
  • May monitor online payment program, process refunds online and record daily receipts and checks in Banner Finance module.
  • Analyze and prepare accounting receipts to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to College reporting and procedural standards.
  • May be required to use external systems and processes such as Bank Mobile, WinSCP system; bank uploads, wire transactions, and ACH self-service system, Touchnet cashiering system, and Bank Mobile financial aid disbursement system.
  • May prepare and audit of collection activities to include direct receipt and lockbox, including maintenance of collection reports for remote deposits and internal receipts.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Serves as the treasury or financial liaison concerning all banking functions or aspects of the account receivables functions in the district office.
  • May communicate daily with external agencies such as Bank Mobile, Missouri Department of Revenue, and the main depository bank of the college.
  • Monitor accuracy of data and financial information in Banner Finance and subsidiary general ledger accounts.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts with the student accounting system and daily bank activity statements.
  • May monitor online payment program, process refunds online and record daily receipts and checks in Banner Finance module.
  • May maintain transaction flow with Bank Mobile.
  • Analyze and prepare accounting receipts, financial spreadsheets, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to College reporting and procedural standards.
  • May be required to use external systems and processes such as Bank Mobile, WinSCP system; bank uploads, wire transactions, and ACH self-service system, Touchnet cashiering system, and Bank Mobile financial aid disbursement system. May calculate, issue invoices, and/or prepare financial spreadsheets/reports for government entities, third party accounts, or students according to established procedures.
  • May prepare and audit of collection activities to include direct receipt and lockbox, and maintenance of collection reports for remote deposits and internal receipts.
  • May prepare and audit collection activities including the district-wide Missouri Debt Offset program; maintain collection agency reports and post collection payments received from third-party collection agencies.
  • Assist the Bursar with special projects as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:

Associate's degree or equivalent with minimum of 3 months of relevant full-time experience, or over three (3) years of relevant full time experience.
Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field is preferred.

Salary Range:

$40,203 minimum
