As the Director of Admissions for the Full-time and Global MBA Programs you will be a key program leader and hold a visible role both within and outside of our school with responsibility for the vision and effectiveness of our Admissions team. Assessing market conditions and creating strategic recruiting plans will allow us to market our programs to prospective students and attract the highest possible caliber of diverse students.

You will report to the Managing Director for the Full-time and Global MBA Programs  This role is hybrid, requiring work on-site in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  May work evenings and weekends. For accommodations or questions about the role, email talent.acquisition@umich.edu. 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leaders and the admissions team to plan the strategic and operational aspects of the admissions cycle to ensure a smooth process. Make recommendations for student admissions, scholarships and awards.
  • Lead operations including application development and systems evaluation.
  • Conduct regular competitive intelligence, analyze global trends, key indicators, market research and rankings to inform the team's work.
  • Build relationships across the campus and with external stakeholders to support program admissions.
  • Be accountable for the Admissions team's performance and engagement, manage daily operations and model a collaborative, learning-oriented and high-performance culture.
  • Select, manage, develop, mentor and evaluate direct reports.
  • Prepare budgets, manage expenses and scholarship funds, and be a steward of our financial resources.
  • Represent our programs internally and externally in communications, at events and across the enterprise.
  • In partnership with leadership, set the strategic direction including developing and implementing new admissions projects.
  • Collaborate with our marketing team to create and execute innovative recruitment strategies.
  • Collaborate with our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team and diversity-focused student groups to attract and yield a class that brings multiple dimensions of diversity.
  • Measure the effectiveness of marketing and admissions strategies. Refine and adjust strategic approaches based on analyzing outcomes against goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Business, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of related experience with expert level proficiency in managing admissions, recruitment or similar functions. 
  • Experience using strategic planning and execution best practices.
  • Previous experience managing teams with a focus on positive organization best practices (formal or project).
  • Demonstrated experience in fiscal management and experience preparing and monitoring budgets.
  • Demonstrated multicultural fluency while engaging diverse student populations.
  • Interest in working with diverse partners across a large organization.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, Google collaboration tools, student administration databases and CRMs.

Salary Information: The general salary range for this position is $113,000 - $126,000. Candidates can expect to be paid a competitive and equitable salary. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge and skills for the position.
