Job Summary
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Communications and External Affairs, the Executive Director of Communications, Public Relations, and Marketing develops, coordinates and directs public relations and marketing activities for Tarrant County College District.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements*
- Plans and implements public relations strategies, policies, and procedures for Tarrant County College District
- Directs news media relations including such activities as preparation of news releases and features articles, and the making of arrangements for interviews between college executives and news media representatives; serves as district spokesperson with the news media as authorized
- Develops and executes district-wide direct marketing and branding campaigns
- Coordinates the production of certain District-wide publications, including but not limited to recruitment materials, class schedules, and program brochures
- Collaborates with the Web Communications department to provide timely news, photos, messages, and video content to align online presence with overall TCC branding and image
- Chairs the District Marketing committee, including working with representatives of each campus to present a consistent image of the District; serves on the strategic task forces as assigned
- Provides assistance to College personnel in writing speeches, preparing letters, and drafting articles that are to be made public
- Serves as Public Information Officer for TCC, handling crisis communications strategy and implementation
- Writes and produces annual reports for TCC stakeholders
- Develops and produces videos used for external audiences to promote TCC overall, as well as specific programs, and acts as Editor in Chief of TCC’s magazine
Manages the Communications, Public Relations, and Marketing teams
Service Excellence
- Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC )
- Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation, and creativity and service to the College
- Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Works under the general supervision of the Vice Chancellor for Communications and External Affairs
*Performs Other Related Tasks as Required

Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Six (6) years’ working experience in Public Relations, Marketing or a related field
- Three (3) years’ experience supervising (e.g., managing, evaluating the performance of others)
- Master’s Degree
- Experience working in higher education
- Experience working in a marketing agency
- Knowledge of news media operations and AP and APA style
- Skilled in oral and written communication at the expert level
- Skilled with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, publishing, and graphic software
- Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with diverse populations
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and a setting that is diverse and urban
- Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
- Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
- Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables
