The School of Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke invites outstanding applicants for the Brenda B. Brooks Distinguished Endowed Faculty in Nursing – a full-time faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching and providing equitable learning opportunities for students in nursing degree programs.
 

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to remove barriers to entry and completion for students in nursing majors and will fulfill this role’s duty by mentoring new faculty members, fostering collaboration between departments, developing high-impact research agendas, and conducting outreach with the community.

The position is a 9-month faculty appointment and will report to the Interim Chair for School of Nursing. The position will:

  • Teach two courses each semester in the undergraduate and graduate degree programs offered in the UNCP School of Nursing
  • Engage in student-related activities such as mentorship for student research, student advisement, recruitment, and retention activities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners
  • Actively support School of Nursing activities to improve undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum
  • Maintain an active research program, supported by extramural funding, with a focus on rural health
  • Develop and participate in community and regional outreach programs as part of the mission of the University and of the School of Nursing.
  • Participate in professional and departmental activities, including new faculty mentorship, service, and community engagement.

This position is non-tenure track as it is time limited to 5 year, concluding in May, 2028.

Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:  An earned doctorate in nursing or related field plus evidence as a distinguished scholar or practitioner, demonstrated excellence in teaching, practice, and research; and an unrestricted North Carolina RN license (or eligibility).

Management Preference:  Background must be appropriate for rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Preference will be given to candidates with significant accomplishments as reflected in publications, current funding and/or history of funding, and regional and/or national reputation as a leader in nursing.

Desired qualifications include a minimum of five years prior teaching at the university level, demonstrated experience in the development of instructional materials, ability to use technology as a teaching-learning tool, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty, communities, and diverse populations, and a commitment to high professional standards.
