Director of Athletics Creative Media &
Communications. The successful candidate will be a
vital member of our media relations team, consisting of 3 full-time
professionals.
Qualified candidates should have versatile technical, creative, digital, and communications skills. They will assist in promoting our 22 NCAA Division II athletic programs, creating creative content, website management, and game-day media relations operations. This position will report to and assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletics Media Relations with the planning and implementation of video production; creative new media content; conceives, writes, edit, and designs collateral material required to promote assigned athletic teams successfully; manages pregame, gameday, and post-competition media, compiling and posting statistics, and event staffing; and works to ensure compliance with NCAA, PSAC, and Title IX requirements relative to athletic communications. Weekend time, holiday time commitments, and travel are required. Must be able to support and promote the University's Mission.
Essential Functions:
1. Have a strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, etc., to design graphics and creative content.
2. Assists in managing department social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube), including graphics and video content production.
3. Produces gameday programs and other creative printed promotional materials as required.
4. Have streaming and broadcast operations experience. i.e., Blue Frame/Production Truck/Scorebot.5. Maintains and updates the Intercollegiate Athletics Website (www.gannonsports.com).
6. Serves as the primary contact for a selected number of Gannon intercollegiate athletic programs each season.
7. Fulfills requests from members of the local and national sports media.
8. Compiles, updates, and maintains team statistics for selected sports.
9. Works closely with athletic personnel to run in-game management at all home events.
10. Reports statistics, results, etc., to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), NCAA, and other entities.
11. Knows, understands, and complies with NCAA rules and regulations.
12. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope, responsibility, and job requirements.
Requirements:
Education: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
Experience: Prior experience in developing creative content, video and broadcast production, and collegiate or professional sports information is required; experience in media relations or journalism is preferred.
Skills: Must have a demonstrated creative content experience, video and broadcast productions, or photography; Knowledge of sports and sports statistics; NCAA, PSAC, and Title IX requirements; Mastery of computer skills in the use of Microsoft Office, Web development, and maintenance software, Adobe Creative Suite, social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro/Final Cut Pro) and statistics software (Stat Crew/NCAA Live Stats) is strongly preferred.the ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work assignments; knowledge of editorial and publications processes, systems, and procedures; strong written composition and editorial skills.
Licenses and Certificates: A valid driver's license that is in good standing is required.
