Position Announcement

Responsible for parking maintenance including painting of curbs, stalls, crosswalks, handicap stalls, center lines, and lettering. Responsible for entire campus asphalt maintenance and repairs. Responsible for the repair/replace of existing and installation of new signage on campus. Provides snow removal in winter for various parking areas on campus. Supervises one permanent part-time employee.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Receives and fulfills requests from departments for various operational labor concerning parking maintenance. Interacts with various vendors and suppliers to purchase new signage, equipment parts, paint materials, asphalt patch materials, and other products used in Parking Services. Maintains, repairs, and installs signs. Maintains and repairs asphalt roads, parking areas, and curbs. Paints curbs, handicap stalls, traffic center lines, and wording. Monitors and maintains campus storm drain system including all intake boxes and gutters
  • Provides work schedule and supervision for one permanent part-time employee in various duties. Responsible for the hiring process for part-time employees including revision of job description, application grading, interviewing, and hiring.
  • Operating and maintaining heavy equipment such as a backhoe, dump truck and sweeper truck for grounds and parking as needed for various excavation and material transportation, including all maintenance and repairs. Operates snow plow in removing snowfall in various parking areas as needed. Maintains automatic gates on campus.


  • Minimum Qualifications

    Required
    • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and three years of job related experience
    • Must have current CDL Class B with no restrictions
    • At least one year experience driving dump truck
    • At least one year experience operating backhoe.

    Preferred
    • Experience driving and operating sweeper truck


    Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

    Knowledge
  • Knowledge of construction methods and materials pertaining to asphalt paving and repair.
  • Knowledge of the application of traffic paint and related paint equipment.
  • Knowledge of and us of hazardous materials associated to traffic paint, thinners, asphalt products, cement, de-icing agent, herbicides, etc.
  • Knowledge of purpose and design of storm drain systems.
  • Knowledge of snow removal equipment and how to operate.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of parking lot/parking structure/roadway standards and accepted practices.
  • Knowledge of MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices).

  • Skill in operating a variety of hand and power tools.
