About the Opportunity

The College of Professional Studies seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty for the Doctor of Law and Policy (DLP) Program with a strong focus on Research Methods, starting the Summer 2023 term.

The DLP program is an accelerated doctoral program designed to allow students to investigate real-world issues contributing to the policymaking process. The DLP program seeks to prepare its students to utilize the knowledge they gain in the DLP program to transform their profession, organizations, and industry. Faculty engage students in advanced coursework that develops legal reasoning, research, and policy analysis skills. By examining the intersection of three key themes—law, research, and policy—within their professional fields, the program prepares leaders to tackle practical challenges with a multidisciplinary approach. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with and mentor DLP students, a unique group of senior-level and mid-career professionals from government, nonprofit, research institutes, and global corporations.

Responsibilities

The actual course load will vary with other responsibilities associated with the Doctor of Law and Policy program collaboratively with the Program Director, Associate Program Director, and other faculty to 1) teach research methods-focused courses, (2) advise students on doctoral thesis projects, (3) participate in college initiatives and curriculum oversight, (4) and manage special projects, as assigned.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a JD and Ph.D. in a relevant social science discipline and research experience. Significant research training is required, with expertise in Research Methods, Statistics. Practical professional experience in the legal sector and/or policy design is desired. A history of successful teaching at the graduate level, experience teaching online, and teaching adult learners are strongly preferred.
