Job Summary

The Georgia Grown Innovation Center Business Advisor is a public service position reporting to the Director of Business Incubation in the Business Innovation Group at Georgia Southern. The position will be responsible for one-on-one business consulting and group business training to new and existing agricultural and/or ag-related businesses from around the state. The Business Advisor will also be responsible for organizing and managing a mentoring network for the Innovation Incubators utilizing the technology of GENIE.

This position will report primarily to the Georgia Grown Innovation Center in Metter, GA.

This position is part-time 20-29 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • Meet with clients about business status. Make recommendations and educate clients in regard to feasibility, financial viability, operations management, legal structure, and business plans.
  • Direct clients to other appropriate resource partners for information and assistance.
  • Develop and deliver business training programs responsive to the business community's needs.
  • Document activities in the database to track progress.
  • Serve as an advocate of business development, expansion, and retention in the area.
  • Work collaboratively with private sector businesses and other economic development assistance units of the University System and other units of State Government to further the economic well-being of Georgia's citizens.


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field or equivalent experience.


Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Business, MBA, or related experience

Preferred Experience
  • Five (5) or more years work related experience


Proposed Salary

$24.29 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
