The Department of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time faculty position to work in the newly developed lung fibrosis/microbiome research program, directed by Dr. Wonder Drake. The Drake lab investigations involve basic and translation inquiry of the role of adaptive immune cells and gut microbiota in the progression of lung fibrosis. These basic and translational investigations involve collection of human specimens and implementation of murine lung fibrosis experiments.

The Drake lab needs a pro-active and organized Research Associate to join our team. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to ongoing research projects and provide supervision to staff, fellows and trainees within the laboratory, will lead experimental design and study implementation, as well as assist with manuscript and grant preparation. They will be responsible for regulatory aspects, such as obtaining IACUC, IRB and Institutional Biosafety Committee renewals of existing projects, and renewal of new proposals. In addition, this person will trouble-shoot experiments of lab personnel and, as necessary, provide confirmation of statistical analyses of postdoctoral fellows and trainees. Candidates will be provided dedicated time to develop their own individual research projects, if so desired.

Qualifications :

Successful candidates must have expertise in all aspects of murine experimentation, immune technology and basic molecular analyses. A willingness to learn and implement emerging, new cutting-edge technology is necessary.

All candidates must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree as well as strong expertise in scientific writing. Additionally, an appreciation of the importance of trainee development and immunologic expertise is also preferred.
