Webmaster

The Webmaster will conceptualize, implement, maintain and coordinate all University website content and features; develop and assist in the creation of new and enhanced web content and features, microsites and email campaigns to help meet key marketing goals of increasing student inquiries, improving student retention and generating revenue for the University.

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

  1. Develop, deploy, maintain, test, and support websites built primarily in the Drupal platform.
  2. Maintain, troubleshoot and provide customer support and documentation for websites built in the University's content management system.
  3. Monitor, edit, and approve content submitted by other offices and departments; suggest improvements/changes to ensure content and features address University messaging and marketing and enrollment management goals.
  4. Work with administrators, students and faculty members to develop new content and features.
  5. Train University community on Drupal content management system.
  6. Monitor positioning on search engines on a continual basis, and work to promote site through all available resources.
  7. Work with the Office of Information Technology to facilitate maintenance of technical aspects of site.
  8. Ensure that the site design and content are in compliance with the University’s visual identity and style guides.
  9. Perform routine reviews, implementation, updates, and remediation of site for continuity, quality, accessibility, current links and freshness of content.
  10. Attend CTL [Committee for Technology and Learning] meetings as needed and assist in reporting website status to various campus constituencies.
  11. Work with Director of Marketing to create and maintain a website style guide.
  12. Analyze analytics to track utilization and modify problem areas.
  13. Respond to feedback generated by both external and internal constituents.
  14. Monitor competitors’ sites for current trends, especially in the areas of inquiry generation for all academic programs, student retention and fundraising.
  15. Create and manage email marketing, recruitment and revenue-generating campaigns.
  16. Perform such similar, comparable, or related duties as may be required or assigned.




Qualifications
  • Knowledge : Bachelor’s degree in web development, computer science, information technology or related field; equivalent combination of education and work experience is also acceptable.
  • Experience : Minimum of three years of experience managing web site(s), developing features, enhancing existing content and editing web content. Extensive experience with Drupal 7 CMS. Thorough knowledge of Mac and PC platforms and content management systems such as Drupal or WordPress. Strong scripting/web development background and familiarity (HTML, JavaScript and CSS); Experience with GIT and GitHub; PHP programming a plus. Experience with third-party APIs (i.e. JSON, XML, and Ajax). Knowledge of database integration through web interfaces. Understanding of UI/UX design. Competency of W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Section 508 web accessibility regulations. Understanding of cross platform/browser compatibility issues.
  • Skills/Aptitude : Excellent writing, editing, proofreading and fact-checking skills. Exceptional organizational skills and troubleshooting ability, regardless of specific technical familiarity. Ability to work with minimal supervision and to develop protocols and processes for ensuring that responsibilities are met. Ability to teach content management and other web concepts to a wide range of constituents, including beginning users.
