Summary/Objective

This position will prepare and coordinate the LL.M. moot arbitration competition between March 23rd and 25th 2023 at American University Washington College of Law with student teams from across the United States. The position will coordinate the competition rounds, including the roles of arbitrators and student teams. The position will also be responsible for miscellaneous logistical aspects that need to be addressed before the start of the competition.

In addition, the position will coordinate the logistical aspects of the summer program in international arbitration (in English and Spanish languages), to be held between May 30th and June 15th 2023. This includes compilation of course materials, advertisements, management of CLE credit applications, and other logistics related to the realization of the summer program. The position will respond to inquiries from lawyers and students about the summer program.

The position will support the Center’s efforts in maintaining the Program web site and social media presence.

Essential Functions
  • Coordinating the LL.M. moot arbitration competition.
  • Logistical support for the 2023 Arbitration Summer Program, including compilation of course materials, marketing, and engagement with students.
  • Updating Program website and social media.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • Part-time
  • 27 hours/week
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, law, business or related field.
  • Excellent communication skills in writing and speaking.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience working in a higher education setting, particularly in the legal field.
  • Strong preference for bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Preference is for candidates with experience and/or professional relationships to the ADR community in the United States and other countries, and a good understanding of the professional practices in this legal field.
