Title: Clinical Assistant Professor of Animal Sciences

Position: Non-tenure track 9-month appointment with responsibilities for teaching and academic advising.

Responsibilities: This is an academic year appointment (9 months), with summer appointment possibilities, primarily focused on innovative instruction of undergraduate courses in the Department of Animal Sciences. A second responsibility will involve undergraduate career advising and mentorship of student organizations. The successful candidate is expected to develop extramural funding and have scholarship in teaching and learning focused on innovative instruction.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• On average, teach four (4) undergraduate courses per year.
• Opportunities to generate additional summer salary via summer teaching exist.
• Potential exits for teaching distance courses.
• Improve teaching approaches and methodologies focused on the delivery of STEM education.
• Provide international learning experience, perhaps through study abroad.
• Engage in service and outreach responsibilities both within and outside of the Department.
• Support the Department's academic programs through student mentoring and service.
• Strive to diversify the undergraduate population through involvement in recruitment efforts.
• Participate in undergraduate curriculum discussions and strategic planning for the Department.

The Department and College: The Department of Animal Sciences is housed in the Hobart and Russell Creighton Hall of Animal Sciences. The Department provides 90,000 ft2 of state-of-the-art facilities for teaching, extension, and research. Also connected to Creighton Hall is the Land O'Lakes, Inc. Center for Experiential Learning and Purina Pavilion, which provides an abattoir, meats, and sensory laboratories, and a 7,800 sq. ft. pavilion. The Department comprises 26 faculty, 28 professional staff, 708 undergraduate students, and 84 graduate students. In addition, animal research and teaching facilities for aquaculture, beef, dairy, poultry, sheep, and swine are located 11 miles from campus.

The Department is an integral part of the College of Agriculture, one of the world's leading colleges of agricultural, food, life, and natural resource sciences, and ranked eighth in the world in the 2022 QS World University Rankings. The College is deeply committed to the three land-grant missions (teaching, research, and extension), international activities and perspectives that span all missions, and excellence in all we do. Rank and Salary: Clinical Assistant Professor. Academic Year (9-month) appointment. Opportunities for summer salary exist. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Animal Sciences, or a closely related field, or a DVM. Demonstrated interest in, and capacity for teaching, and/or evidence of teaching competence is required.
