Position Summary:

The Office of Financial Aid processes the free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine the financial aid eligibility for students, while also providing in depth counseling to students and families on their educational costs and funding options.

The Financial Analyst position reports to the Assistant Director of Financial Aid. The position manages the college’s scholarships software, supports with the technical aspects of Banner and Workday, and processes FAFSA records.

The ideal candidate would be a technically minded individual with a knack for creative problem-solving, a critical eye for efficiency and processes who will be motivated to learn alongside and support the financial aid staff in leveraging this tool. Life in the Financial Aid Office is fast-paced, collaborative and student-centered. The Financial Aid Technical Analyst works within the Financial Aid Office, with strong support and ties to Information Technology. They will work closely with the Financial Aid leadership and Administrative Information Systems Manager to identify and develop solutions, efficiencies and on-going improvements within the world of Financial Aid.

Job Description:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with setting up and testing of new Banner releases and updates that occur on a regular basis throughout the year.
  • Project lead for the Workday software implementations process.
  • Design and execute solutions for common challenges within the financial aid software.
  • Build reports and dashboards as requested by financial aid and other business areas as needed.
  • Execute weekly operational duties Banner, including FAFA processing.
  • Provide technical Banner/Workday support for financial aid staff and serve as the primary subject matter expert for the software databases.
  • Create and maintain training materials and user documentation to support business and technology needs.
  • Communicate process changes, enhancements, and modifications – verbally or through written documentation – to management, peers, staff, and other employees so that issues and solutions are understood.
  • Responsible for maintaining data integrity and maintaining security, handling and privacy best practices.
  • Assist with the identification, evaluation, and selection of various technology applications to support the organization and the delivery of programs.
  • Deliver training as needed to various on-campus groups or individuals based on demand.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Information Technology and Financial Aid in support of the system issues.
  • Serving on the college ASMT Technical Committee and Portal Committee as the Office of Financial Aid representative.
  • Maintains the AcademicWorks software used in awarding and managing foundation and departmental scholarships.
  • Assist with entering foundation and departmental scholarships.
  • Maintaining desk procedural manuals, specifically related to job duties, and assisting with others in the Financial Aid Office, as needed.
  • Attending professional development and/or training sessions (on-site or online) as directed
  • Representing themselves, the office, and the college in a positive and professional manner to all students, families, and personnel on and off campus
  • Serve as a voting member on the Satisfactory Academic progress committee.
  • Conducting other duties as assigned by the Director and/or Associate Director
  • Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508.

Required Education, Specialized Skills and Experience:
  • Degree
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Demonstrated professional experience with:
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of technology or database platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse audiences and people from underrepresented groups.
  • Practical knowledge in the use of reporting software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flowcharts
  • Technically minded and comfortable learning and navigating new technologies (including experience in analyzing business and technical requirements, project management skills, and writing technical documentation in a user-friendly format)
  • Knowledge of SQL and report writing
  • Considerable working knowledge of the applications in the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Must not be in default on a Federal Direct Loan or owe an overpayment on federal grant funds with the U.S. Department of Education

  • Experience working in Higher Education in financial aid or other enrollment management services departments.
  • Working with Banner, Workday and/or Higher Education software programs
  • Experience with scholarship management
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution in a policy driven environment.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and interpret federal, state and institutional policies and regulations.
  • Bilingual
Reports To / Supervisory Responsibility:

This position reports to the Assistant Financial Aid Director. This employee has no direct reports.

  • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers). Walls do not go all the way to ceiling, so offices are not private and noise from other offices can be heard.

  • Option for this to be a fully remote position.

Travel:

Professional development is very important in this position. There may be training opportunities available to the employee that would require travel. Typically, 1 – 2 trainings a year that would require travel.

Compensation

The salary range is $50,500 to $56,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package .
