The Research and Education Networking Information Sharing and Analysis Center (REN-ISAC) is searching for an exceptional Executive Director to provide visionary leadership and strategic direction. The Executive Director will be a dynamic and innovative leader with a proven track record of success in managing cybersecurity, technological and organizational operations, relationship building, and the management of strategic partnerships.

The REN-ISAC Executive Director will be part of the Indiana University Office of the Vice President of IT cabinet.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Provides visionary leadership and strategic direction to the organization
  • Responsible for the overall management of REN-ISAC, including operational, financial, and legal responsibilities
  • Serves as the public face of REN-ISAC
  • Responsible for building relationships with members, partners, and stakeholders
  • Identifies cybersecurity threats and protections
  • Coordinates information sharing and analysis with other organizations
  • Secures funding opportunities
  • Represents the organization in various forums
  • Develops innovative approaches to problem-solving

General Responsibilities

  • Seeks input on and work with direct reporting leaders, external governance groups and international member-constituents to establish and implement long-term business plans and strategic objectives in response to organizational mission and member needs in threat analysis, incident management, and cybersecurity protection
  • Directs leadership staff and provides supervision to information security analysts
  • Responsible for operational issues, including human resources and/or people management, relationship management, organizational promotion, providing cybersecurity subject matter expertise, knowledge acquisition and transfer
  • Represents the REN-ISAC at the highest level, participating in conference sessions, presentations, articles, publications, and interviews
  • Drives innovation and excellence within the area of information security
  • Determines overall budget for REN-ISAC; drafts, reviews and approves financial proposals from and for REN-ISAC; has significant fiscal responsibilities that require frequent interaction with executive leaders and member institutions
  • Provides expertise and identifies funding opportunities, including grants; develops business relationships across the university and externally.
  • Determines information security best practices and standards
  • Works with related organizations, within a US Federal construct, and with State and Federal agencies for the overall improvement of threat analysis, incident management, and cybersecurity protection

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Computer Science or related field)

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 5 years of information security or related experience
  • 3 years of management experience

Preferred

  • 5 years of management experience

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

This position requires some travel.

This position is eligible for remote work, including fully remote work, subject to change based on university policy and business needs.
