Job Summary

The Production Lead overseas all aspects of the physical preparation of the production including, sets, lighting, costumes, production personnel and budgetary projections. The Production Lead coordinates with the various members of the Design team and the Stage Director to ascertain a timeline for, construction, load in, on-stage rehearsal and performance, and post-production. The Production Lead coordinates with fiscal officers to facilitate hiring as well as the procurement of goods and services from outside vendors.
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinating budget and timetable with Director, faculty, design team and crew. Works closely with fiscal coordinator and Personnel coordinator in order to facilitate the hiring of necessary personnel.
  • During rehearsals and production oversees efficiency and timely accomplishment of goals.
  • Ability to work with faculty and provide training and supervision to students involved in productions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the methods and problems in multiple production specialties.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of design theory and principles and how they are executed in various production specialties.
  • Working knowledge of directing and stage management, including the ability to manage staging needs for productions requiring numerous costume and set changes and the ability to manage and coordinate the use of multiple facilities.
  • Thorough and in-depth knowledge of the technical aspects of construction, implementation, and operation of staging materials and effects in the various production specialties, including the ability to work with drawings and plots to assist in their execution.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety measures and hazards related to theatre productions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Ability to work effectively with co-workers and the public.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to 24 semester units of related college coursework and two years of related professional or technical experience required.
Licenses / Certificates

Valid CA Drivers License preferred.

Compensation

The salary range for this classification is $19.90 to $36.02 per hour.
Time Base

Hourly/intermittent temporary position until 06/30/2023 with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date. Work nights and weekends, as required.
