Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
- Experience Supervising custodial operations.
- Knowledge of cleaning methodology or technology for desired results.
- Work in a team-oriented environment.
- Experience using computer and computer programs such as Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook).
- Ability to perform all custodial duties to assist subordinate staff, the team, the department, and the university.
- Experience working in a higher education environment.
- Understanding of coordinating custodial services in student housing facilities.
- Has served on committees as a department representative.
- Skilled in purchasing custodial supplies and equipment.
- Two or more years of experience planning, organizing, directing, and supervising assigned staff.
- Experience in hiring and training staff.
- Knowledge of HazCom, Right to Know, SDS, Lifting techniques, etc.
- Experience in addressing work conflicts with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Bilingual English/ Spanish
Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the operations of custodial services in an area of campus to ensure clean, safe, and sanitized facilities for the Department of Housing and Residential Life.
Job Duties
- Directly supervise Head Custodians staff members and indirectly lead custodial staff members.
- Maintain assigned area equipment inventory and submit replacement requests as needed.
- Coordinate the delivery of custodial supplies to each facility with the custodial staff.
- Conduct monthly key inventories and audits for Head Custodian. Submit key reports to the Associate Director of Housing Facilities Services.
- Evaluate and document employee performance through evaluations, commendations, and disciplinary action plans.
- Enforce department and university policies and procedure compliance around training, inspections, safety reports, inventory and supply orders, work orders, and timekeeping.
- Create and review work schedules encompassing daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual events in the assigned areas.
- Support with interviews, selection, and training of custodial staff members.
- Perform all physical aspects of assigned duties, including stooping, reaching, climbing, and lifting to 30 pounds.
- Serve as on-call and essential personnel, which requires occasional irregular work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays and emergency closures, to meet the department’s and the university’s needs.
