Position Summary:


The Nurse Director is responsible for structuring all clinical practice objectives for the Institute. Serves as a professional role model, mentor, and clinical resource/educator for members of the health care team. Develops goals and objectives with leadership based on analysis of clinical and managerial processes to improve patient outcomes and create a culture of excellence. Represents the Institute and is a liaison to internal and external customers. Participates in service line clinical pathway development and oversees the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).

Core Responsibilities:

•Responsibility 1 (33%): Structuring of Clinical Programs
Task 1: Responsible and accountable for structuring and planning all clinics associated with the Liver Institute
Task 2: Responsible in conjunction with the physicians in the creation of all clinical pathways for disease specific clinics

•Responsibility 2 (33%): Development of Policies and Procedures
Task 1: Participates in planning, priority setting and the development of policies and procedures for clinical activities within the Stravitz- Sanyal Institute.

•Responsibility 3 (33%): Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Point of Contact-Essential Function
Task 1: Responsible for oversight of all multidisciplinary clinics and management of coordinator staff hired by the Institute.
Task 2: Participate in all MDT conferences and clinics.

Minimum Hiring Standards:
  • RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state
  • Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant clinical experience with five (5) years of progressive leadership or management experience
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
  • Must have a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in past experiences or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in academic medical center environment
