Job Description
The Opportunity
The Department of Security and Emergency Services at The College of Arts & Sciences (COAS) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of the Practice position (fully remote, U.S.-based), in Civil Security Studies, following priorities from its new vision and mission statement .
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate across the homeland security – emergency management – human security and resilience continuum as well as select courses in the general education curriculum and contribute service to the department, college, campus, and/or university, including but not limited to student recruitment, retention, enrollment and success. Most courses are delivered asynchronous online, while some courses are also taught synchronous online and we are working to offer more courses on select Embry-Riddle Worldwide sites across the U.S. The position will in particular contribute to our Homeland Security BS program, MS Human Security and Resilience, and other courses in the department and college. Online teaching experience as well as experience in the homeland security/civil security/human security mission space is expected. The ability to oversee and advance the Undergraduate Minor in International Relations would be an additional strength.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include an earned terminal degree in a relevant discipline, such as disaster research, emergency management, homeland security, political science, public administration, public policy, security research or security studies, as well as demonstrated commitment to excellence and innovation in teaching. A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline is preferred.
