Associate Director of Student Services and Engagement

Penn State Hazleton is looking to hire a dynamic leader for the position of Associate Director of Student Services and Engagement. Committed to and accountable for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in all forms, we embrace individual uniqueness; foster a culture of inclusive excellence; and engage all individuals to help them thrive. The Associate Director is a vital part of the team in helping to continue the mission and vision of the department. While not guaranteed, there may be a possibility for the selected candidate to live on campus in a University-owned two-bedroom furnished townhome.

Reporting to the Director of Student Services and Engagement, the Associate Director provides the following:
  • Direct oversight of the residential living program
  • The position has a 24/7 responsibility for the welfare and living-learning experiences of students
  • Manage crisis and emergency situations; directs the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a residential curriculum for the area
  • Interprets and enforces University and residence hall policies/procedures
  • Oversees budget and expenditures for residence life, student engagement
  • Management of the Student Accountability and Conflict Response process (student conduct), serves as the campus designee/liaison
  • Direct student diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives/competencies, oversight of The Center for Multicultural Engagement and Programming
  • Hiring, supervision, and development of professional staff members, part-time staff members, and residential assistants (RA's)
  • Liaison with international students and initiatives
  • Oversight and direction for student engagement, activities, clubs/organizations; develop, publicize, execute, and assess a program of extra-curricular activities and events for students that are of interest to a diverse student body
  • Serve as a campus contract signatory
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of Welcome Weekend activities, oversee Welcome Leaders; serves as the point person from student services and engagement to collaborate with academic advising for the New Student Orientation process
  • Serves on campus-wide selected committees, represents residence life/student engagement at special campus events including admissions-related events
  • Liaison with residence life constituents at University Park


This position focuses on the day-to-day management of operations for each of the above areas within student services and engagement, as well as serving as the liaison and primary contact for these areas to students, parents, faculty, staff, and other campus and Penn State University Commonwealth System stakeholders. The mission of Student Services and Engagement is to encourage holistic growth and development, support the diverse needs of our students, and enhance their academic pursuits while promoting inclusion and citizenship in the global environment.

Education:
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Master's Degree or higher
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience


Employment with the University for this job will require successful completion of the Pennsylvania (PA) Publicly Available Clearances: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and the FBI Criminal History Background Check. In addition, this job will require the operation of a motor vehicle as a part of the job duties. A valid US driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required.
